Dry type

Dry type

The dry-type transformers avoid contamination and fire risks in oil transformers; therefore, its use is aimed for office interiors, hospitals, hotels, shopping centers, plants with petrochemical or textile industrial processes or with electronic control machines and places near people or their works, where transformers are installed.

Anti-pollutant

They do not pollute the environment, there are no possibilities of liquid leakage, they do not require oil drainage, nor expensive fire systems. Fire resistant. They are manufactured with insulation class "B" and "F" and "H", "Mylar" type and "Nomex", materials that may work with temperatures of 150 and 200º C respectively, self-extinguishable, non-flammable and non-explosive.

The Megger test

This insulation does not absorb humidity; therefore, the dry-type transformers permanently keep a high ohmic resistance even in an extremely humid environment, preserving their excellent dielectric features every time.

Hard work cycles

It has a high resistance to short circuits and resists to severe work cycles and normal overloads.

Silent

The dry-type transformer performs near people so its noise level must be below 40-60 dB depending on its capacity.

Minimum maintenance

Forget about the annual oil filtering or leakage cleaning. Dry-type transformers need minimum maintenance.

Special construction features.

Core. It is built with thin grain-oriented silicon steel, cold-rolled, with high magnetic permeability, M0H-M3 quality, manufactured at low flow densities to provide low losses and a minimum excitation current.

Coils

Windings with copper and/or aluminum magnet wire with double insulating varnish/epoxy 220º C rectangular wire with double fiberglass liner.

Insulation

Insulations up to 220ºC are placed between winding and layers.
Depending on the type of insulation, these materials do not absorb humidity, do not spread flames and they permanently guarantee an insulation resistance between the windings and the core.

Temperature

Winding temperature increase.

Varnishing or coating

Impregnation of the assembled transformer with core and coils, in a 24-hour varnish bath, ensuring a silent operation, this improves the insulation among turns and layers and protects the magnetic core from humidity.

Connections

"Kulka" or "Clema" terminal blocks strips, brass screws or copper sole-plat depending on the capacity placed on blocks of celaron or epoxy and on the upper part of the transformer.

Cabinet

It can be supplied with cabinets of NEMA 1 type interior service, NEMA 3 rain proof or NEMA12 metal sheet dust proof manufactured with steel metal sheet and premier finishing and ANSI61 gray color acrylic painting; or without cabinet if preferable.

Indicator plate

The transformer is fixed with a data plate carved in a visible part, in plastic paper for the interior service and of STAINLESS STEEL carved for weather service, with a clear identification of terminals, windings, and voltages that shall allow a safe connection.

tests

Routine tests are carried out on each transformer to ensure compliance with customer requirements and a test report is delivered.
Turns ratio and polarity of connections.
Core losses and no-load excitation current.
Copper losses and impedance percentage calculation.
Voltage applied to the high voltage winding for 1 minute.
Insulation resistance with megohmmeter.

Absolute guarantee

IMEM provides a warranty for dry-type transformers against manufacturing defects and materials for one year following the shipment date.
Dry-type transformers are ventilated with "H" class insulation and are prepared for works in closed environments. Due to its safe operation, especially in case of fire, they have compact designs and are free of maintenance. Compared to other alternatives, their advantage is the low percentage of insulating materials as this decreases the toxic gases emission, especially CO.
